Doctor's Appointment

Yesterday we took Kaden for his 4-month check up. We're a little behind on that. The doctor said that developmentally he's right on target. However, his food intake is needing to be increased because he hasn't gained that much weight since the last time I took him in. He is currently below the third percentage for his age, which means he's a tiny little guy. But, we go back in two weeks for a weight check. Hopefully then he will have gained at least a few ounces if not a pound or two. Currently he stands at 11lbs. 4oz. Tiny, I know. So we're bumping up his formula from 4oz to 6oz a feeding along with cereal/applesauce.

Some new things with me as well. I am currently filling out job applications in the area for a part time job. So far the candidates are Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Family Christian Store, Old Navy, Target, and Best Buy. The only reason I want to get a job is so that we can have a little more cash in hand. We are making right now just on Jimmie's job, but I think that we would both feel better if we had just a little more to help. With that comes the part about what to do with the baby. Well, Jimmie's mom, Debra lives about an hour away from us and has agreed to watch him about once or twice a week. Jimmie's step-mother's mother Marilyn has also agreed to watch him whenever it is needed. And Jimmie can watch at night when he comes home from work. At this age we are still skeptical about putting him in a daycare center. You never know if you can trust those kind people.

I just pray everything works out already for everyone!

Catching Up

Wow, I am not really good at keeping up with this blog. But I promise I'll try to do better in the future.

The holidays were great. Kaden and I were able to spend a week in San Antonio to visit my family down there. It was so great to be around them. They were also excited to see him and how much he's grown.

It is so exciting that Kaden is now 5 months old. He seems to be showing signs of getting ready to crawl like this picture here.

He's been sleeping this way ever since he could turn himself over in his cradle. It's so cute!!!!

Tuesday, we are taking him to the doctor for his over due shots from last month and of course a regular check up. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the last time he got his shots and that Jimmie will be able to go with us.

I have also recently found a La Leche League group in the area that i hope with be helpful in getting to know some people and also with this decrease in milk supply issue that I've been having for about a month now. I am not willing to give up on it yet, even though I have had to supplement him everyday except morning and evening feedings. Hopefully this group will be able to give me some pointers and some support.

Holiday Events

Ok, so sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. I've been kind of caught up in the holiday season and then got busy packing for my San Antonio trip.

Anyway, Christmas Eve and Day were excellent. Eve night we spent at Jimmie's father's house. Kaden received the most gifts out of anyone including Jimmie's brothers. Lots of toys and clothes. I do have pictures, but I'll have to post them later because I don't have the USB cable for the camera with me. Christmas Day we went with Jimmie's mother and adopted father to his sister's house. Kind of small gathering, but very relaxed and enjoyable.

Yesterday I flew out of Grand Rapids to San Antonio to spend a week with my mother and other family members to have a late Christmas together. I'll be here for a week (Jan 3) and I'm looking foward to the great times that are ahead. Saturday, we have planned an "open house" to friends and family who have not been able to my mom's house and of course to see me and Kaden. towards the end of that event, my step dad, his two kids, and my sister get to attend the Alamo Bowl which features the Texas Longhorns against the Iowa Hawkeyes. My mom and I were suppose to go as well but then realized that the party extended past the beginning of the game. So, unfortunately, we have to luck out.

There are some more fun times that we are go to have but I don't want to spoil the good reading for those days, so I'm going to end now.

Happy reading!

Baby Feedings

Last night was the first time for me to introduce solid foods to Kaden. What an adventure! The faces, the messyness of it all. It was great. He's growing up so fast *tear, sniff, sniff* Well it was interesting to see him eat it. Not a whole a lot but at least he tried it. Hopefully he'll get used to and eventually enjoy these new tastes.

Baby Sickness Continued

Well, it seems that Kaden has a bit of pneumonia. We went back to the doctor yesterday, because his cough has gotten progressively worse. It's like he's gasping for air and almost choking on the cough itself. The porr thing. But, we were able to get him some medicine that I'm suppose to give 4 mL of every 8 hours for 10 days. I just hope it works and that this whole thing goes away soon, so that I can actually get some undisturb sleep.

Sad News and Pictures

Ealier this evening as we were getting ready to go to the store for our family photos done, we received a call from Jimmie's dad telling us that Jimmie's grandfather had had a heart attack. At first we didn't know how serious it was or what exactly had happened. While we were driving to the store, Jimmie tried calling his mother to see if there was any new development. There was. The bad kind. Jimmie's grandfather had past before they were able to get him out of the driveway of his house. Unfortunately we were unable to go down there to him (hour and a half drive) not only because of the distance, but also because of the road conditions: very slippery and snowy. Anyway, please pray for Jimmie's family especially his mom and grandmother.

First Winter's Snow

This morning we woke up to a beautiful winter day. Snow was and still is everywhere. During the night there was freezing rain that turned into snow. It's so pretty. I love the way snow turns everything outside beautiful.

I also took a few other really cute pictures of Kaden to show everyone how much he's grown just in the last month and a half.
